Meditation in a nutshell
Meditation is a practice in which a person uses a strategy, such as mindfulness or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity, to train attention and awareness and achieve a mentally clear, emotionally calm, and stable state. Meditation is a set of strategies that are intended to encourage a heightened state of awareness and focused attention. It is a strategy that alters consciousness and has been shown to have a variety of psychosocial benefits. On these pages, we'll try to scratch the surface of what it is all about.
