Chef Nazira Nicola or Abla Nazira (1902 – 1990) is the most famous Egyptian and Arabian cook. She’s Egypt’s and the Middle East Julia Child. She wrote the first and the biggest Arabic cooking & recipes encyclopedia.
Nazeera Nicola (born 1902 in Egypt) is a famous cook and writer who gained fame through her Book “Cooking Essentials” which we call it in Arabic countries “Ketab Abla Nazeera”, she studied at the Faculty of Home Economics and Housekeeping in Egypt. In 1926 the Ministry of Education sent her together with 14 girls to study at the University of Gloucester in England for three years. Nicola study culinary arts and needlework.

Back in Egypt, she worked as a teacher of (Women Culture and Housekeeping) in “Saneya Girls School” in Egypt. She advanced in her Job and became a General Inspector in the Ministry of Education.
Nicola joined the Ministry of Education competition between home economic teachers to write a cooking book to be used in teaching girls in schools. “Abla Nazeera” joined that competition with “Baheya Othman” who graduated from Bridge House Faculty in England and was a general inspector too, and they wrote this book “Cooking Essentials”, which won the first place.
From teaching and writing books “Abla Nazeera” started a radio show. Her recipes were also published in the weekly women’s magazine Eve.
