Mahmoud Al-Wardani, also written Mahmoud El Wardany is an Egyptian writer, novelist, storyteller and journalist born on January 1, 1950, in Shubra. He graduated from The higher institute of Social Work in Cairo in 1972. He was imprisoned for student activism in the 1970s. He is also one of those who transported the bodies of deceased soldiers during the 1973 war. He participated in the founding of the Akhbar Aladab newspaper. Some of his works were translated into English and French. Typically his works are dispassionate and discontinuous depictions of ambiguous, disturbing situations. He also received several literary awards. His novel The Moon at World's End was converted into a TV series in 2020, starring Bushra, and directed by Tamer Hamza.

Awards
Mahmoud Al-Wardani was honored by many in the Arab world, including many literary awards, the most important of which is first prize in the novel branch for senior writers in the 2013 Sawiris Cultural Competition for his novel House of Fire.
