Born in December 1944 in Sohag (Upper Egypt), Hassan Teleb is a graduate from the Faculty of Arts, department of philosophy at Cairo University. He is currently professor of philosophy at the Faculty of Arts as well, but at Helwan University.
He has published seven books of poetry, the first was entitled Wachm ala nahday fatah (tattoos on the breasts of a girl, Osama editions).
The latest was published in 2002 by the High Council of Culture under the title Mawaqef Abi-Ali, rassaeloh wa wa aghanih (illuminations of Abu-Ali, his letters and songs).
He also published two philosophical tests, namely Moqaddass wal Al-Gamil (Sacred and Beautiful) and Asl Al-Falsafa (the Essence of Philosophy).
Since 1991 he is deputy editor of the monthly Ibdaa (Creation).
He received alot of prizes like Cavafis Poetry Prize awarded in Greece 1995. Excerpts of his poetry have been translated into English, French, Spanish, Italian and Greek.
