"1/4 Gram" a realistic novel is a brutally honest insider's account on Egypt's drug world.
Relying on events from real life, Salah the narrator in the novel tells the story of a group of friends who try a 1/4 gram for the first time during a party on New Year's Eve.

Essam Youssef was born in Cairo in 1965 and is a graduate of the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, Cairo University.

Since 2000 Essam Youssef was the Managing Director of The Egyptian International Company for Environmental Protection (EICEP), a multi-disciplinary engineering and consulting firm geared to provide its clients with various environmental management needs. This professional experience allowed him to work with the Ministries of Interior, Tourism and Environment in defining procedures for drug-testing and for introducing alcohol and drug prevention programs.

In 2007, Youssef has started Montana Studios for Cinema Production. As the CEO of this company, Youssef worked on several projects for adults and children.

He is the author of the Bestseller "1/4 Gram" novel (31 editions), and also the author of "2 Officers" published September 2013. Both novels are based on true stories.

Essam Youssef is the son of AbdelTawab Youssef, one of the pioneers in the field of children's culture and literary books considered the godfather of Children's Literature in Egypt and the Arab World; and to his name is a thousand titles in the field, and Notaila Rashed, "Mama Loubna", the editor in-chief of Samir magazine for forty years.

Essam is married and is the father of Omar, Loubna and Mariam.
